Here is a list of resources that I have been beneficial for my journey as a student of the voice. You will see websites, blogs, and stores that can support your vocal journey. I will periodically update this post as I find new resources. Please show your support! You can also show some love by visiting and liking my Facebook page – Bass2Yang.

Octavism, Basstronomy, Choral Facebook Group – This is where my research and collaboration really took off – this group consists of enthusiasts and professionals that have a breadth and depth of knowledge when it comes to this category of voice. Repertoire, performances, history, technique, and many other fun things are discussed daily. A special thanks to the masters/creators of this group.
Oktavism.com – The webmaster of Oktavism is a great resource as well as colleague (he is also a fellow subharmonic-oktavist). Here, you will find information on well-known (as well as not-so-well-known) basso profundos/oktavists, history, and posts related to true profundos. We consult each other regarding oktavism, subharmonics, extended registers, and appropriate memes to keep us cool (or illicit a response). His channel, K Barber (YouTube), contains a plethora of examples, clips, compilations, and research on oktavists and subharmonics.
YouTube Subharmonic Tutorials – Just so you know, I am not the only one researching and working on this. Check David Larson’s tutorial videos. He does a great job at explaining and demonstrating subharmonics. He is a fellow colleague of choral music and definitely a subharmonic enthusiast (and other techniques as well as you will find). We have our own approaches and consult each other regarding subharmonics and other techniques. Click on the link and show some support!
Sheetmusicplus.com – Gone are the days of trying to order music from a catalog – you can now order directly! Sheetmusicplus has a plethora of choral music and compositions for the lower voice. I order my music from this site for my choirs and for myself when I have free time to sing. Also, if you are a teacher, click here to learn more about their Easy Rebate program for teachers and save even more!
Ebay.com – Sometimes you just can’t find products anywhere… sometimes, you want a real good deal and someone wants to give you that deal. Ebay is a great source for both new and used products – I usually find the deal I need (hurray for college student status again) and from time to time, I am able to make an offer on the product I want. Always use good judgement and buy from a reputable seller. And, for some reason if something goes wrong, Ebay has you covered with their money back guarantee.
HostGator.com – This website is powered by HostGator. Great customer service, no down time, and a lot of tools for you to use to get started. Whether you are an enthusiast, business, student, or teacher, it is important to get started with a website that can give you a world-wide presence. Starting at $4.95/mo – get your voice heard and make your presence known. You have something that people want to know, hear, and buy – get it out there and share it! If you are looking for WordPress hosting, prices start at just $3.96/mo – click on the picture below for the direct link.
